2021 Women's World Championship. Russia - Switzerland

The senior Russian women's national team will compete against Switzerland in the first match of the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship in Calgary, Canada.

These following players have made the trip to Canada for the competition:

Goalkeepers: Valeria Merkusheva (SKIF), Nadezhda Morozova (Dynamo-Neva), Anna Prugova (Agidel).

Defenders: Maria Batalova, Anna Shibanova (both Agidel), Angelina Goncharenko, Elena Provorova (both SKIF), Liana Ganeeva (Dynamo-Neva), Nina Pirogova, Anna Savonina (both Tornado).

Forwards: Alexandra Vafina, Fanuza Kadirova, Kristi Shashkina (all Dynamo-Neva), Ekaterina Dobrodeeva, Valeriya Pavlova, Sofiya Lifatova (all Biryusa), Veronika Korzhakova, Ilona Markova, Elizaveta Rodnova, Olga Sosina (all Agidel), Oksana Bratishcheva, Viktoriya Kulishova, Ekaterina Likhachyova, Landysh Falyakhova (all SKIF).

Sadly, due to an injury sustained in a friendly against the USA (0:6), defender Yuliya Smirnova (Dynamo-Neva) cannot participate at the competition.

Olga Sosina is the captain, while Anna Shibanova and Nina Pirogova are her assistants.

Switzerland lost 0:3 to the Americans in their maiden game of the competition.

Puck-drop is scheduled for 01:00 Moscow time. Match TV and Match-Igra will provide a live television broadcast in Russia.
