2021 World Championship. Slovakia - Russia - 3:1

In the third match of the 2021 IIHF World Championship, the senior Russian national team came up short against Slovakia, conceding a 1:3 defeat.

Moments after the Slovaks had opened the scoring midway through the second frame, Alexander Barabanov equalised as he tipped Sergei Tolchinsky's effort beyond Julius Hudacek, but the opponents regained their advantage on the powerplay in the 54th minute of play.

Slovakia subsequently iced it with an empty-netter after goalkeeper Alexander Samonov had been pulled for the extra skater.

Our players will now prepare to face Denmark in the fourth game of Group A. Puck-drop is scheduled for 16:15 Moscow time on Wednesday.
