2021 World Championship. Great Britain - Russia - 1:7

In the second match of the 2021 IIHF World Championship in Latvia, the senior Russian national team eased to victory against Great Britain, claiming an emphatic 7:1 win.
On the powerplay, Anton Burdasov opened the scoring in the sixth minute, before Mikhail Grigorenko doubled the advantage moments later shorthanded. Burdasov and Sergei Tolchinsky registered further markers to make it 4:0 in Russia's favour midway through the frame.
Nevertheless, the British weren't prepared to go down without a fight, and they got on the board in the 19th minute on the powerplay as Liam Kirk beat Ivan Bocharov from the left faceoff circle.
Russia weren't about give their opponents hope of a famous comeback, though, as Pavel Karnaukhov, Andrei Kuzmenko - on the powerplay - and Anton Slepyshev all got on the board in the remaining 40 minutes.
Goalkeeper Bocharov stopped 10 of the 11 British shots he faced.
The Russians will now prepare to face Slovakia in Group A on Monday. Puck-drop is scheduled for 16:15 Moscow time.
