2021 World Championship. Russia - Czech Republic. A statistical look

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation takes a look at the statistics to emerge from the opening match of the 2021 IIHF World Championship against the Czech Republic (4:3):

- Forward Mikhail Grigorenko scored Russia's 900th goal in 228 World Championship matches;

- This was only the second time when the Russians scored a winning goal at the World Championship in the concluding minute of play, following in the footsteps of Alexander Ovechkin's winner against Sweden at 59:54 on 10 May 2008. Furthermore, Mikhail Grigorenko has now tallied three markers in games with the Czechs at World Championships;

- Goalkeeper Alexander Samonov, defensemen Igor Ozhiganov and Rushan Rafikov and forwards Anton Burdasov (1+0), Dmitry Voronkov (0+1), Emil Galimov, Vladislav Kamenev (0+1), Pavel Karnaukhov, Ivan Morozov (0+1), Konstantin Okulov, Anton Slepyshev, Evgeny Timkin and Artyom Shvets-Rogovoi (1+0) all made their senior World Championship debuts;

- In 40 appearances for the senior Russian national team, forward Maxim Shalunov has registered 17 (10+7) points;

- Defensemen Igor Ozhiganov (2+4) and Rushan Rafikov (2+4) both competed in their 25th game for the senior national team;

- Defenseman Nikita Zadorov (0+1) and forward Ivan Morozov (0+4) participated in their 10th match for the senior national team;

- Forward Alexander Barabanov has tallied 15 (5+10) points in 29 World Championship games.
