Euro Hockey Challenge. Switzerland - Russia - 3:1

30.04.2021
In the first of two planned 2020/2021 Euro Hockey Challenge matches between the nations, Switzerland managed to defeat the senior Russian national team, earning a 3:1 victory at home.

The Swiss took the lead towards the end of the first period on the counter-attack. Nevertheless, the Russians did manage to get back on level terms midway through the ensuing second stanza, as Evgeny Timkin tapped Igor Ozhiganov's superb pass over the line with the opposing goalkeeper out of the picture.

However, Switzerland once again earned an advantage in the 51st minute, before they subsequently doubled their money less than four minutes later to put the game out of sight.

Russian goaltender Alexander Samonov stopped 25 of the 28 Swiss shots he faced.
