The Russian Ice Hockey Federation wished a Happy New Year to young patients of an oncology centre
21.12.2020
A charitable certificate of one million rubles was gifted to the N. N. Blokhin Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the Russia Ministry of Health.
Ahead of the festive period, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) supported the social initiative of companies which are set to undertake good deeds instead of purchasing corporate gifts. The RIHF made a decision to purchase important medicines required for saving lives and restoring the health of young patients currently receiving treatment at the N. N. Blokhin Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hermatology. Help will be provided to children who require bone marrow transplantation. The necessary innovative drugs will be purchased for the patients of the pediatric department needing bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cells transplantation.
President of the RIHF Vladislav Tretiak:
- The last few months have clearly shown how important it is to support each other and to lend a helping hand to those who need it most - first of all, children whose health and lives are at risk. Ahead of the New Year holidays, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation decided instead to purchase important medicines to save lives and restore health of young patients.
Deputy director for Scientific and Educational Work at the N. N. Blokhin Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology and leading researcher of the Department of Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Kirill Kirgizov:
- It's right that companies are making donations to health organisations instead of purchashing corporate New Year gifts. Not a single method of treating childhood oncological diseases in any country is fully implemented at the expense of the respective state. The contribution of each member of society to the development of pediatric oncology and in providing the highest quality care is needed.
Head of the Children's Department of Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Natalia Sidorova:
- On behalf of our department and all of our patients, I would like to say a big thank you to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation for their contribution to ensuring that children receive the most effective treatment. The clinic turns to large organisations and charitable foundations, attracting additional funding channels for the purchase of innovative drugs which should be provided to every child.
