Vladislav Tretiak's foundation has assisted a hospital in Ulyanovsk

The foundation of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation president, Vladislav Tretiak, has provided assistance to the City Hospital of Ulyanovsk.  

A video laryngoscope was donated to the hospital, a piece of equipment which is worth more than one million RUB. It is designed to ensure tracheal intubation, improving the quality of medical care offered by resuscitation anesthetist doctors and makes the processes of laryngoscopy and intubation safer for the patient.

Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the City Hospital of Ulyanovsk, Vladimir Dubanosov:

- We're happy that our hospital has been provided with such a video laryngoscope. It is designed to examine the respiratory tract of the patient, in particular, the larynx, followed by the placement of a special tube into the trachea through which mechanical ventilation is performed.

Intubation is the most risky step during anesthesia and resuscitation. This piece of technology increases the safety level of the procedure, and the fact that the image is displayed directly improves the quality of direct laryngoscopy. Furthermore, the risks of infection of medical personnel during the ongoing manipulation are reduced, which is extremely important during the coronavirus pandemic.
