Vladislav Tretiak: "The main competitions will be played in April and May"

President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tretiak, shared his feelings after international tournaments during February:
- In Gothenburg, the under 16 national team proved its worth, winning all games at the Four Nations. This shows that the Red Machine National Development Program is working, a system which we are rolling out across the whole of Russia in cooperation with Nornickel. It's great that we have young players who are capable of showing excellent ice hockey which wins games.
However, at the same time, we also need to create the required facilities which will allow more players to move up to older national teams.
Elsewhere, the senior and Olympic Russian national teams played at their tournaments in Sweden and Slovakia respectively, with 12 players of the silver-medal winning side from the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship all competing. Valery Bragin, one of the best coaches for working with young players, is now a member of the senior national team's coaching staff.
The under 17 national team won the home Five Nations competition in Ufa and the under 18 team claimed bronze at their tournament in the Czech Republic. The senior women's national team became the bronze medalist of the Euro Hockey Tour.
I would also like to point out the victory earned by the under 16 Russian national team at the Youth Olympic Games in Switzerland. For all of the players, it was their first experience of participating at a major international competition, and they displayed fantastic ice hockey. The coaches understand how to work effectively with these players.
Now, we have the most important tournaments around the corner, with our senior women's national team travelling to the World Championship in Canada, the under 18 national team will play at their World Championship and the senior men's national team will prepare for the same competition. It will take place in Zurich and Lausanne. We wish all of our teams luck and success!
