In Ufa, the under 17 Russian national team defeated Sweden in dramatic circumstances in the first match of the Five Nations, claiming a thrilling 2:1 penalty shootout victory.

During the first period, Dmitry Lobanov handed Russia the lead, before Simon Edvinsson promptly equalised for the Swedes on the powerplay.

Nevertheless, in the ensuing overtime frame, Nikolai Safronov struck gold to secure an exciting victory!

Russia will next play tomorrow at 17:00 Moscow time against Finland.
