In the first match of the Six Nations in Sweden, the senior Russian women's national team came unstuck against the competition hosts, conceding a 1:3 defeat.

Sweden quickly put themselves in the box seat by scoring the first two goals. In response, Anna Shokhina scored on the powerplay for Russia, but the opponents secured their victory with a third marker in the concluding period of play.
