2020 World W18 Championship. Canada W18 - Russia W18 - 3:2 OT

In the maiden match of the 2020 World W18 Championship, the under 18 Russian women's national team gave a battling performance against Canada, conceding a narrow 2:3 defeat in overtime.

Trailing 0:2 after 40 minutes, Russia showed admirable character to equalise in the third period, as Veronika Korzhakova and Kristi Shashkina scored twice in the concluding 10 minutes of play.

Ann-Frederik Naud and Sarah Paul had given the Canadians a two-goal advantage.

In the ensuing overtime period, Nicole Gosling netted the crucial goal, securing a dramatic 3:2 win for Canada.

Russia will next play on Friday against the USA. Puck drop is scheduled for 18:30 Moscow time.
