Channel One Cup. Russia - Czech Republic

14.12.2019
The senior Russian national team will face the Czech Republic at the Legends Park in the second match of the 2019 Channel One Cup.

On Thursday, Russia almost completed a dramatic comeback from 0:3 down against Sweden, but goals from Vadim Shipachyov and Kirill Kaprizov (2) weren't enough to salvage a point. Andre Petersson, Daniel Brodin, Malte Stromwall and Daniel Zaar hit the target for the victorious Swedes.

Alexander Samonov was pulled in favour of Ilya Sorokin in the Russian goal after the third Swedish marker.

The Czechs, for their part, defeated Finland 4:3 in overtime at home in Plzen. Martin Zatovic, Jiri Sekac and Lukas Sedlak scored in regulation time, before Sedlak then grabbed the winner in the extra frame. Goalkeeper Roman Will stopped 23 of the 26 shots which he faced.

The Czech Republic are currently leading the overall Euro Hockey Tour table with four wins in as many games.

Puck drop in Moscow is scheduled for 15:00 local time. Channel One will broadcast the match live in Russia.
