2019 World Championship. Russia - Czech Republic - 3:2 SO

Russia defeated the Czech Republic in a dramatic penalty shootout in order to claim bronze at the 2019 IIHF World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia.

In the 13th minute, Mikhail Grigorenko opened the scoring for Russia, but Michal Repik equalised for the Czechs just 41 seconds later.

Dominik Kubalik then gave the Czech Republic the lead in the final moments of the third period. Artyom Anisimov scored for 2:2 in the early moments of the second stanza.

Overall, the Czechs held the initiative for the majority of proceedings as they unleashed 50 shots on goal, but Russia held on with brilliant goalkeeping from Andrei Vasilevskiy and then snatched the win on penalties! llya Kovalchuk and Nikita Gusev netted in the shootout.

Russia are the 2019 IIHF World Championship bronze medalists.
