Ilya Kovalchuk and Artyom Anisimov speak after playing Finland
04.05.2019
Following the 2018/2019 Euro Hockey Tour match against Finland in the Czech Republic, senior Russian national team forwards Ilya Kovalchuk and Artyom Anisimov spoke with the media.
Russian national team forward llya Kovalchuk:
- We're disappointed with the result, but this game was a part of our preparations for the World Championship. The guys need time to build up mutual understanding. Finland played with great commitment and they were better than us. We had only held one training session since the rest of the players joined us. The special teams were key, the Finns scored three goals on the powerplay and we were lacking discipline. We have to start shooting more instead of trying to score into the empty net.
Russian national team forward Artyom Anisimov:
- We have to crash the net more and take advantage of the opportunities which come our way. We need to shoot more when on the powerplay. Here, the rules are a bit different, but we will get used to them.
