Euro Hockey Challenge. Russia - Switzerland - 5:2

In the first of two planned 2018/2019 Euro Hockey Challenge matches between the nations, the senior Russian national team defeated Switzerland 5:2 at the Shayba Arena in Sochi.
Damir Zhafyarov opened the scoring, and after the Swiss initially equalised, defenseman Dinar Khafizullin reinstated the Russian lead before the second frame.
Alexander Barabanov and Denis Alexeev extended the advantage in the second stanza, and in the third, Anatoly Golyshev hit the empty net to seal the victory.
Goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev stopped 17 of 19 Swiss shots.
The second game will take place on Saturday.
