Interviews after beating Japan at the 2019 Winter Universiade

04.03.2019
Russian women's student national team head coach Alexei Chistyakov and forwards Evgeniya Dyupina and Valeria Pavlova shared their opinions.

Russian women's student national team head coach Alexei Chistyakov:

- Japan forced us to play more aggressive, pacey ice hockey, and when playing strong opponents, you see just how strong you actually are. At the moment, we are creating a lot of opportunities, but we cannot take advantage of our opportunities. So far, everything overall is going to plan, and we're playing well. Japan have already beaten the Americans, who are our next opponents? At this stage, everyone is capable of beating each other.

Russian women's student national team forward Evgeniya Dyupina:

- The Japanese players are fast, and because of this, they made our life difficult at times. Nevertheless, we are happy to win, but we need to take advantage of our chances on a more regular basis. We prepare for all opponents in the same manner.

Russian women's student national team forward Valeria Pavlova:

- In comparison to the previous two games, Japan were stronger opponents. They have mobile players and it wasn't easy playing against them. Are the fans helping us? Of course! I have been playing in Krasnoyarsk for five years, so it's really nice when all of my friends and family are in the stands watching.
