Volitional start

National Women’s Team under Mikhail Chekanov leadership secured a victory against German Team in starting game of 2014 XXII Winter Olympic Games hockey tournament.

During this season Team Russia and Germany have met six times and in all of the games our girls were stronger.

Russia – Germany 4:1 (0:0, 0:1, 4:0)

Russia: Leskina. Gavrilova - Burina (2) – Skiba, Tkachyova – Dyubanok (2). Sosina – Smolenceva (К)– Lebedeva, Goncharenko – Kapustina (А). Vafina – Smolina – Dergachyova, Khomich – Shibanova. Schukina – Shokhina - Pashkevich (А).

- Ultraboundary mood on Olympics games leads to mistakes – from our side as well as from the rivals’. Despite missed goal I’m grateful to our goalkeeper Yulia Leskina. First of all, I would like to congratulate hockey players who made this feast for our fans – stands support helped us a lot. It inspired the Team and gave us additional strengths.
