In the third friendly match ahead of the upcoming 2019 IIHF World W18 Championship in Japan, the under 18 Russian women's national team defeated the tournament's hosts 3:0.
Elena Mezentseva scored twice, with Elizaveta Shkalyova also hitting the empty net in the final minute to secure a 3:0 win. Goalkeeper Anna Alpatova stopped all 18 Japanese attempts to tally a morale boosting shutout.
Tomorrow, Russia W18 will take on Canada in another exhibition game, before the competition begins on January 6.
