2019 World Junior Championship. Switzerland - Russia - 4:7

31.12.2018
In Canada, the under 20 Russian national team picked up their third win of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, defeating Switzerland 7:4!
Nevertheless, despite the eventual three-goal advantage, our players endured a difficult start to the match. Within nine minutes, the Swiss had a two goal advantage, as Marco Lehmann and Valentin Nussbaumer scored. Kirill Marchenko got Russia on the board to halve the deficit, but early in the second frame, Marco Lehmann hit the target again to give Switzerland a 3:1 lead.
Thankfully, defenseman Dmitry Samorukov immediately made it 3:2, and Grigory Denisenko then equalised. After that, the Swiss then contrived to miss two penalty shots in one play after two cynical fouls.
Kirill Slepets (shorthanded) and Alexander Alexeev (powerplay) gave Russia a 5:3 lead in the third frame. Yannick Bruschweiler found the net to give the opponents a glimmer of hope, but Pavel Shen and Vitaly Kravtsov secured further Russian goals to seal a 7:4 win!
