Reaction after winning the fifth match of the 2018 CIBC Canada Russia Series
14.11.2018
Following the emphatic 5:1 victory against Team QMJHL, Valery Bragin and Ivan Chekhovich spoke to the media on behalf of the under 20 Russian national team.
Russia U20 head coach Valery Bragin:
- As a result of the match against the OHL which took a lot out of us, it was very difficult with the QMJHL. The opponents cancelled all league matches for this game. They were fresher than us, but that made it more interesting to see how we cope in such tough conditions. The players displayed excellent commitment and we are counting on seeing the same level of performance in the sixth match. All of the four QMJHL players in our team were solid.
Russia U20 forward Ivan Chekhovich:
- I had watched the previous matches in this series on the television and was looking forward to get on the ice! You always feel a special pride when wearing your country's jersey. We last won the CIBC Canada Russia Series four years ago? I didn't know that, but it doesn't matter. There aren't any nerves. We are following the coach's game plan in order to win matches and make the supporters happy. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that Russia played yesterday and could have been tired made the opponents relaxed. We all helped each other on the ice, found chemistry and the most important thing is to play even better and win the sixth game. I want to help the team win the series.
