World Challenge Cup. Russia U17 - Finland U17 - 2:1

In the final of the 2018 World Challenge Cup in Canada, the under 17 Russian national team defeated Finland 2:1, becoming champions of the tournament for the first time since 2014!

The Finns took the lead in the opening period through Eero Niemi, but in the second, Daniil Guschin and Ignat Kokhanin struck gold to seal a dramatic 2:1 triumph for the under 17 Russian national team.

The last occasion when Russia won the U17 Challenge Cup was back in 2014. Overall, Russia have now become winners of the competition on five occasions, a tournament which is generally regarded as the unofficial World Championship for players under the age of 17.
