In Chelyabinsk, the under 18 Russian national team defeated Belarus 3:0 in a pre-World Championship friendly match.

Pavel Rotenberg opened the scoring in the opening frame, before Ruslan Iskhakov doubled the advantage in the second. Yegor Zamula scored the only goal in the third period, sealing the 3:0 win.

Sticking to an agreement between the two sides, an overtime period and a penalty shootout also took place. Kirill Marchenko scored in the extra stanza and Russia U18 won the shootout 3:1 after Dmitry Zavgorodniy, Pavel Rotenberg and Ruslan Iskhakov scored.
