Reaction after losing the women's Olympic bronze medal match to Finland
21.02.2018
- Women's ice hockey isn't very rough, but we took a lot of penalties today and we're to blame. We conceded on the penalty kill, didn't score on the powerplay, and as a result we lost. It was an even game today, Finland were more effective with their goalscoring opportunities. Our goalkeeper Nadezhda Morozova played really well though. It's a shame that we let her down and lost. Maybe, in the near future, we will be able to be as good as the North American teams.
Forward Olga Sosina:
- I am grateful for the support. I don't think that I'll want to watch this match back, we wanted to win, but seemed to be lacking something. It was a different game with Finland than in the group stages. I want to apologise for this result.
Forward Fanuza Kadirova:
- In this game, we played differently against Finland than in the group. We have played well in the third periods of all matches, but we couldn't do it for 60 minutes. I think that our performance at these Olympic Games should help the development of women's ice hockey in Russia and get more girls playing the sport.
