2018 World Junior Championship. Russia - Sweden

31.12.2017

In the final 2018 World Junior Championship group stage match, the under 20 Russian national team will take on Sweden.

Russia recovered from a 4:5 loss to the Czech Republic in the opening game, going on to defeat Switzerland and Belarus both by a large score of 5:2. However, the Swedes are currently undefeated in the competition.

If Russia win this match by two or more goals, then our players will take first place in the group. However, if the Russians earn a victory by a difference of one goal, they will take second spot. Any overtime or penalty shootout Russian victory will also mean that our team finish in second.

In the group, Russia cannot fall any lower than third place. The possible opponents in the quarter-finals are the USA, Finland and Slovakia.

Yesterday, our players trained in these following lines:

Goalkeepers: Berdin, Melnichuk, Sukhachyov.

Reds: Knyzhov, Syomin - Sokolov, Maltsev, Polodyan.

Blues: Zaitsev, Minulin - Manukyan, Rubtsov, Kayumov.

Whites: Samorukov, Elizarov - Altybarmakyan, Sholokhov, Abramov.

Blacks: Makeev, Shepelev - Kostin, Ivanov, Svechnikov.

Puck drop is scheduled for 04:00 Moscow time on January 1. You can watch a live Match TV broadcast here if you are in Russia:
