Alexander Zybin: "Some of our players went missing in the semi-final"

12.08.2017

Russia U18 head coach Alexander Zybin:

- In this semi-final against the Czech Republic, we failed to play a good passing game. We couldn't get set up inside the Czech zone. A lot of pucks were turned over at the blue line, in turn allowing the opponents to counterattack dangerously. It's our fault that we lost. Some of our players went missing, but I'm not going to name names. A lot of things went wrong. Because of the fact that we played the previous match with only three lines, we were lacking energy.

We were given 24 penalty minutes. We only had two powerplays. Nevertheless, I told the players that they have to be ready for the bronze medal match against Sweden. They need to rest. This game against the Czechs is already history, but we have to draw the right conclusions.
