Kirill Kaprizov: We have one last step to take
Russian forward Kirill Kaprizov spoke before the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship final against Finland:
- In the match against the USA, were you confident of winning even when the Americans pulled their goaltender?
- It was nervy, but we tried not to think about that. We continued to play, block shots, and our goalkeeper saved us in some moments.
- The Finnish fans want their team to take revenge for the loss in the group stages.
- We will play only to win, we have one last step to make and we need to give everything in this match. We have to let our emotions go after the win over the USA and prepare for this game.
- How did the team respond to Egor Korshkov's goal?
- It was emotional! Egor scored a well needed goal, he skated on to the crease and bundled it in.
- Did you pay attention to what the Americans said before the game?
- They can say what they want, what does it matter to us? We tried not to read the media and simply play our hockey.
- It seemed that the Americans didn't take risks, they weren't as powerful as in previous matches.
- Maybe we simply didn't allow them to feel comfortable on the ice. We did everything to not concede and score our goals.
- Was it hard to play against their first line?
- I didn't really notice them, all of their four lines play well.
- Did you not feel down after missing a five on three opportunity in the first period?
- Of course not, we had more chances after that.
- Is it a good or bad thing that you have already beaten Finland in this tournament?
- Tomorrow will be a completely different game. Finland will try to correct their mistakes made in the first match against us.
