The match for bronze with Sweden

15.01.2016

On the 16th of January, the match for the bronze medal at the women's 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place in Saint Catharines, Canada, between Russia and Sweden.

It has been a really positive tournament for Vyacheslav Ulyankin's girls, and the team have done excellently to get this far. The group stages didn't get off to a great start with defeats against Canada and the USA, but our players then rallied to beat the Czech Republic 3:2 and Finland 3:0 in the quarter-final. Canada ended Russia's run with a 4:0 semi-final victory, but we still do have a chance for a medal today.

Today's opponents Sweden came in second of Group B before losing to the USA 0:4 in the semi-finals, and they will prove stern opposition for our team. We played against Sweden once this season in Novogorsk, and we came out on top 2:1.

The Sweden - Russia match will begin at 00:00 Moscow time in Saint Catharines, Canada. The Canadian Ice Hockey Federation will broadcast the game live on their official website.
