On the 20th of February, the under 16 Russian national team played Finland in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games bronze medal match.
After losing to the USA in the semi-final stage our players wanted to finish the tournament on a high note, however it was Finland who broke the deadlock within 30 seconds. Nevertheless that goal succeded in waking Russia up, and Danil Zhuravlyov equalised with a bullet from the point. Kirill Nizhnikov made it 2:1 when clean through, and despite Finland equalising our team scored two quickfire goals to make it 4:2 after two periods. It became 5:2 early on in the third, and captain Alexander Khovanov rounded things off with an instant shot between the circles. 6:2, and Russia take Youth Olympic Games bronze!
