Russia are the Youth Olympic Games bronze medalists!

On the 20th of February, the under 16 Russian national team played Finland in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games bronze medal match.

After losing to the USA in the semi-final stage our players wanted to finish the tournament on a high note, however it was Finland who broke the deadlock within 30 seconds. Nevertheless that goal succeded in waking Russia up, and Danil Zhuravlyov equalised with a bullet from the point. Kirill Nizhnikov made it 2:1 when clean through, and despite Finland equalising our team scored two quickfire goals to make it 4:2 after two periods. It became 5:2 early on in the third, and captain Alexander Khovanov rounded things off with an instant shot between the circles. 6:2, and Russia take Youth Olympic Games bronze!
