In prearation for the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Toronto, Canada, the Russian women's national team held an open friendly match against FSO Hockey Moscow 2001 for media representatives.
It was always going to be a tough test for our goals, and after Fanuza Kadirova's goal in normal time, it went all the way to penalty shots. Our team eventually came out on top, with Anna Schukina scoring the winning penalty.
Russian head coach Mikhail Chekanov:
- This was the strongest opponents out of the three matches. The girls kept to the game plan and deservedly won. During these games against FSO Hockey Moscow, we have checked out all of the candidates.
