Friendly match. Clearwater - Russia W - 0:11
Yesterday on the 23rd of March, the Russian women's national team played their first friendly match since arriving in Canada.
The game was organised against a Clearwater student's team, and instead of the usual 60 minutes, both teams agreed to play for two periods of 25 minutes. There was also a special twist: Russian goaltender Maria Sorokina dressed up for Clearwater. For Russia, Tatiana Burina, Alexandra Kapustina, Yekaterina Smolentseva and Anna Schukina didn't take part in the match. Forward Lyudmila Belyakova is still waiting for a Canadian visa.
Predictiabaly Russia were dominant, and despite Maria Sorokina defending Clearwater's net, our team managed to hit the target eleven times. Fanuza Kadirova netted a hat trick, Valeria Pavlova and Alexandra Vafina scored twice, and Olga Sosina, Alevtina Shtaryova, Iya Garvilova and Yekaterina Smolina all had one goal each.
