The final training session before the women's World Championship
On Sunday, the Russian women's national team held their final training session in Kamloops before the start of the 2016 IIHF World Championship. They worked out in these following lines:
Goalkeepers: Prugova, Sorokina, Morozova.
Whites: Pirogova, Shibanova - Smolentseva, Gavrilova, Vafina.
Blacks: Schukina, Goncharenko - Sosina, Burina, Pavlova.
Blues: Kapustina, Nikolaeva - Smolina, Belyakova, Mitrofanova.
Reds: Skiba, Silina - Shtaryova, Dergachyova, Kadirova.
The team had their pre-tournament photo-shoot, and then afterwards, looked over moments from the friendly game against Switzerland.
Inside the Sendman's Signature hotel, it was agreed upon with the IIHF that Russia will wear red against Finland, and white in their second fixture against tournament hosts Canada.
The women's 2016 IIHF World Championship begins on the 28th of March, and Russia will face off against Finland at 01:30 Moscow time. Match TV will broadcast the game live in Russia.
Russian head coach Mikhail Chekanov:
- We have analysed the match with Switzerland, and have organised a tactical meeting for the first game of the World Championship in which we will decide on our line-up.
