A quarter-final against Sweden at the Women's World Championships
Today, the women's Russian national team will play their 2016 IIHF World Championship quarter-final against Sweden.
Our girls had a tough time of it in group A with Finland, Canada and the USA, and failed to take any points at all losing 3:5, 1:8 and 0:8 respectively. Nevertheless, the IIHF have today confirmed that despite those results, Russia have qualified for the 2018 Olympic Games along with Canada, the USA, Finland and Sweden. As hosts, South Korea have also been granted a berth.
Sweden topped group B, and will be full of confidence coming into this match. These two teams have already met on three occasions this season, and despite the Swedes winning 3:2 twice in the Four Nations, Russia took revenge at the Nations Cup 2:1 in January.
The Sweden - Russia match will begin at 01:30 Moscow time in Kamloops, Canada. Match-Igra will broadcast the game live in Russia.
