Russia's women will take on Finland in the third place play-off

04.04.2016

In Kamloops, the Russian women's national team will take on Finland in the 2016 IIHF World Championship third place play-off.

Yesterday, both teams took part in the semi-final stage, and it was a match to forget for Russia as they fell to the Americans 0:9. On the other hand, Finland gave Canada a real run for their money, and came up just short 3:5. The Finns should be confident coming into this meeting, especially given that they defeated our women 5:3 in the tournament group stages.

Despite yesterday's heavy loss, it has already been a successful World Championship for Russia as the 4:1 quarter-final win over Sweden has guaranteed the team a 2018 Olympic Games berth. Nevertheless, the girls are hungry for success, and would love to take a bronze medal home to Russia. Forward Olga Sosina is the team's top scorer with four points (2+2).

The Finland - Russia match will take place at 01:00 Moscow time. Match TV will broadcast the game live in Russia.
