Russia - Denmark. A statistical look
- This was the first time in the history of USSR/Russian national teams that defensemen scored the first three goals of a match. The only time when three defensemen scored goals in the first period was back in 1991 against the USA (12:2), however they were the third, fourth and fifth goals of the game. Dmitry Mironov, Alexei Kasatonov and Igor Krachuk were the scorers.
- The ninth goal, netted by Vadim Shipachyov, was the 350th scored in a Moscow World Championship game. It has taken 48 matches for our team to reach that landmark.
- A victory with a goal difference of nine has equalled the record set in 1994 against Great Britain (12:3), and against the Kazakhs ten years ago (10:1).
- This was Russia's biggest ever win over Denmark. The previous best was 9:1, when our team defeated Denmark in Moscow in 2007. Evgeny Dadonov's goal was the 50th scored against the Danes.
- Vadim Shipachyov (2+3) and Artemiy Panarin (1+5) repeated the Russian record for amount of points tallied up in one game. Fellow forwards Alexei Morozov (3+2) and Sergei Zinovyev (1+4) took five each against Ukraine in 2009. Also, Evgeny Malkin (3+2) reached that same total in 2012.
- However, the Soviet record belongs to Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Petrov, who both registered ten against Poland in 1973 (20:0).
- Forward Sergei Shirokov competed in his 80th Russia match, and so far he has 30 points (15+15). Half of them (8+7) have come in 32 World Championship fixtures.
- Alexei Emelin played in his 40th World Championship game. He is now fifth best in this department among all Russian defensemen.
