SHL hold on against Russia U18 to claim third spot

17.05.2026
Despite a spirited late comeback, Russia U18 ran out of time against a side representing the Student Hockey League (SHL) and succumbed to an avoidable 4:5 defeat.

After the first period had initially ended level at one apiece, the SHL suddenly opened up a surprise three-goal advantage in the second.

Nevertheless, our players did show plenty of spirit and determination, as Artyom Frolov netted twice in quick succession to cut the opponents' lead to one.

The SHL held on, though, with Ivan Ryabov's last-gasp effort with a mere three seconds left on the clock a mere consolation.

Third position of the tournament consequently goes to the SHL, while Russia U18 find themselves in fourth.
