Valeri Davletshin: "We improved with every passing game"

05.02.2026
After the Eurasia Jastar Cup ended in Kazakhstan, head coach of the senior Russian women's national team Valeri Davletshin shared his feelings.

Russia W head coach Valeri Davletshin:

"The Belarusians showed their quality and excellent movement. It was tough for us, but we stuck to our game plan of playing tightly in defence with an emphasis on counter-attacks. Given just how strong Belarus are, it was really useful to compete against them. I'm pleased that we managed to score a goal in the third period.

"Overall at the competition, we were solid in defence, our goalkeepers were reliable and our forwards followed our system. Thank you to our girls for their efforts and the tournament hosts for their organisation!

"After initially losing 0:10 in our opener, we got used to the high tempo and improved with every passing game. The 3-on-3 tournament, in which we reached the final, was particularly pleasing. We showed interesting ice hockey for the fans to enjoy!"
