Valeria Ivanova: "It's always nice when your efforts are recognised"

05.02.2026
Following the completion of the Eurasia Jastar Cup, captain of the senior Russian women's national team Valeria Ivanova shared her emotions.

Russia W captain Valeria Ivanova:

"The Belarusians started the first period with a lot of emotion, putting together lots of neat passing plays and unleashing plenty of shots. Nevertheless, we subsequently settled into the game. I'm really happy that we managed to score a goal, all of us felt increasingly confident as the game progressed!

"My emotions from being named our team's best player? It's always nice when your efforts are recognised, especially when you're playing such a strong opponent.

"We have a good balance between youth and experience! Some of us have played at Olympic Games, whereas others are making their maiden international steps. As captain, I needed to ensure that there was effective communication between the coaches and players."
