CAS hearing concerning the case involving Ivan Fedotov

06.05.2025
A hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was held in Lausanne concerning the sanctions imposed on the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) in connection with the case of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.

On 6 May 2024, the Disciplinary Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) issued a decision to impose a fine of one million Swiss francs on the RIHF as a consequence of Fedotov playing for CSKA Moscow in the 2024/2025 KHL season. According to the IIHF, he did not have the right to play in the KHL due to his contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL at that time. The RIHF did not agree with this decision and filed an appeal to the CAS regarding the fine imposed.

The RIHF's position in court was represented by RIHF General Director Dmitry Kurbatov, Deputy RIHF General Director Alexander Kiknadze and lawyers from the Curtis international firm.

The decision will be made within a period of three to six months.
