The RIHF President opened the Tretiak Cup in Krasnogorsk

19.04.2025
The Tretiak Cup, a competition which sees Russia's leading young players compete against one another, has started.
This year, the tournament is being held across four cities. The competition for players born in 2014 is being staged in Krasnogorsk, with 10 teams from nine different Russian regions (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Khabarovsk, Cherepovets, Voronezh, Perm, Novokuznetsk) and two Belarusian sides (Minsk, Novopolotsk) participating in it.
On the competition's first day, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretiak took part in the opening ceremony, held an autograph session and spoke with the participating players.
RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"The whole world is currently discussing the scoring record set by Alexander Ovechkin. I can remember when he was playing at the Tretiak Cup back in his youth, and I recall presenting him with his awards. Back then his immense talent was already clear for everyone to see!
"Right here, at the 2025 Tretiak Cup, I'm sure that there are future Olympic and world champions. Those who win this competition will be crowned the best in our country, with this tournament serving as an important step on the way to becoming a professional. Russian ice hockey is successfully developing in various parts of the country. This spring, the Tretiak Cup is being held in the Far East, the Urals, the North West and, finally, in the capital. I'm happy that this tournament is being contested in Krasnogorsk, a city which has long been making huge contributions to the development of the sport in Russia. I would like to wish everyone playing at the tournament luck and success!"
