RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:

"Canada used to provide the standard for constructing ice hockey arenas, but now Russia is doing this! Such wonderful stadiums aren't even beig constructed by the Canadians. The opening of the fantastic UMMC Arena fills us with a feeling of immense national pride.

"Such impressive progress contains many factors. Thanks to the special attention paid by our President Vladimir Putin to the development of sport, it's possible to create the required conditions and facilities for progression. Our government and the Ministry of Sport have always provided full support to our projects.

"And, of course, the involvement of regional authorities and private businesses is encouraging. The RIHF has been focused on developing hockey infrastructure for almost 20 years now. By working together, we made the prospect of constructing state-of-the-art arenas attractive to business investors. The UMMC Arena was constructed thanks to a productive partnership initiated by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, and the leader of a large mining and metallurgical holding, Andrei Kozitsyn.

"We always support such projects at all stages, and the RIHF helps to ensure that such arenas aid both sporting and social development After all, ice hockey helps people in all aspects of life.

"I am convinced that the new arena in Yekaterinburg will help our talented youngsters subsequently become the next Ovechkins and Bobrovskys!"
