Reaction after Russia U17 played Belarus U20

07.02.2025
Reaction following the under 17 Russian national team's 0:5 loss to Belarus U20 at the Future Cup in Minsk.

Russia U17 head coach Pavel Kanarsky:

"Taking into account that the opponents are three years older than us, it was a tough test for our team. Nevertheless, our players tried their best across the three periods. I have no issue with their commitment and desire at all.

"Due to the large age difference, the Belarusians were stronger in terms of physical play, the battles and speed. They were always half a second ahead of us. We struggled on the PK as well the opponents trapped us inside our own zone and we lost a lot of strength.

"Of course, it's disappointing to lose by such a large score, but this will serve as a useful experience for our guys. They played until the end and were a united group. We'll now prepare for tomorrow."
