Vladislav Tretiak: "It was a true celebration of ice hockey in Tula"

This season, the traditional open-air Russian Classic VHL match was combined with a number of celebratory events, the central one of which was honouring the veterans of the famous 1974 Super Series between the USSR and Canada.

One of the most active participants in the program organised by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) on the eve of the birthday of domestic hockey was Vladislav Tretiak, a legendary goalkeeper and the current president of our organisation. Tretiak also held meetings concerning the development of ice hockey in Tula Region.

President of the RIHF Vladislav Tretiak:

- December 22 is the anniversary of the founding of ice hockey in our country. We're continuing to move forward, creating the required facilities for the strengthening and progression of our sport. I would like to say a big thank you to our colleagues and friends for helping us achieve this. The Governor of the Tula Region Dmitry Milyaev and the President of the Tula Region Ice Hockey Federation Alexander Shamsutdinov care about the development of ice hockey ,we can see just how hard they're trying to help our sport progress here in Tula. Teams across all levels in the region are developing rapidy.

The RIHF has organised matches involving the Russian national team in Tula for already three years. We know how hospitable the city is, how professionally they approach the organisation of events of the highest level. As a result, we weren't surprised to see just how well they organised the Russian Classic! It was a truly memorable event for all, with the two teams displaying entertaining ice hockey.

It was great that veterans of the 1974 Super Series met with young players, consequently providing them with the inspiration to achieve similar feats themselves in the future. The event in Tula was truly a fantastic celebration of ice hockey!
