Reaction after beating SKA

Interviews were taken following the final match of the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament between SKA Saint Petersburg and the under 23 Russian national team at the Ice Palace.

Russia U23 head coach Nikolai Voevodin:

- Our guys played with plenty of determination and motivation against an opponent of the highest level. They had to show their character against such a strong side, and this is something which will help them to progress in their respective careers. Denis Popov became the first goaltender at the tournament to save a penalty shot from Evgeny Kuznetsov? We had spoken to him about Kuznetsov's shootout approach.

Russia U23 goalkeeper Denis Popov:

- I think that second spot is a decent result. Obviously it was a challenging game today, but we competed as a united group and achieved the win. When playing against such big clubs like Kazan and Saint Petersburg, you have to remain calm and work as usual. Kuznetsov's penalty shot? Everyone knows where he's going to shoot, you simply have to be patient and remain on your line.

Russia U23 forward Ivan Demidov:

- Taking into account that I'm a SKA player, I had extra motivation in order to prove that I'm worthy of a spot in the senior line-up. My goal early in the third period? To be honest, I think that it was a coincidence that the puck went in there.
