100 years since the birth of Nikolai Sologubov

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Sologubov, a famous Soviet defenseman who made a name for himself during the 1950s and early 1960s.
After fighting in the Second World War for the Soviet Union, Nikolai subsequently won the Olympic Games in 1956, a bronze medal of the same tournament in 1960, the World Championship twice in 1956 and 1963 and further medals of the competition in 1955 (silver), 1957 (silver), 1958 (silver), 1959 (silver), 1960 (bronze) and 1961 (bronze).
Furthermore, he was deservedly inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2004.
Nikolai sadly passed away on 30 December 1988.
