23.06.2024
On 23 June, the XXXV All-Russian Olympic Day took place in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, which is traditionally staged by the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) as part of the Olympic Country program.
During the day, an exhibition zone of 30 sporting federations was open for guests and residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) presented the gold medals which Russian hockey players had won at nine Olympic Games, from Cortina d’Ampezzo to Pyeongchang. Furthermore, together with the Sakhalin hockey school, a shooting zone was organised where everyone could test their skills in handling a stick and puck.
Among other guests, the President of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov visited the RIHF's exhibition, noting the importance of organising such events:
– It's great that the leading federations are providing young athletes with the opportunity to become acquainted with our sport's rich history and communicate with famous Olympians. The continuity of generations is something which has always distinguished our training system, and I think that such events will spur children’s interest in engaging on the island Sakhalin.
