08.05.2024
President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) Vladislav Tretiak held a meeting with the Governor of Omsk Region Vitaly Khotsenko during Russia 25's stay in the city of Omsk.
The parties discussed cooperation concerning the development of ice hockey.
The RIHF is directly involved in the emergence of ice hockey infrastructure in the region. The construction of the G-Drive Arena boasting a capacity of 12,000 as well as numerous ice skating rinks in cities and rural areas, has been made possible thanks to the support provided by the RIHF.
The Omsk system of youth ice hockey actively uses the developments and principles of the Red Machine National Development Program, which contains an innovative set of advanced techniques consequently allowing top-level athletes to develop. The RIHF interacts with schools and coaches, helping them to implement the Red Machine developments with maximum efficiency.
Cooperation is also developing in the field of educating coaches and referees, with RIHF experts participating in specialised events. In February, the RIHF staged the annual III All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation concerning the “Current Problems and Prospects for the Development of Sporting Training System in Ice Hockey" topic in Omsk. Experts from several regions discussed issues of pedagogy, psychology, sports medicine and ice hockey innovation.
Tretiak pointed out that the RIHF will increase cooperation in all areas such as infrastructure development and coaching new, up-and-coming players who will go on to represent the Russian national team in the future. Khotsenko emphasised that the latest initiatives of the RIHF contribute to the further popularisation of ice hockey in the region and help improve the quality of work in all aspects of the sport. He also also promised that a modern ice skating rink currently being constructed in one of the regional centers will bear the name of Vladislav Tretiak.
