On December 12th, the Russia 25 team visited the Peter and Paul Fortress, where at noon the head coach of the team, Roman Rotenberg, as well as the team captain Alexander Nikishin and assistant captains Alexander Elesin and Marat Khairullin, accompanied by the fortress gunners, fired a symbolic cannon shot.
The team also visited the main temple of the Peter and Paul Fortress, where the tomb of the Russian tsars is located, and engaged in a tour. After this, the team returned to preparations for the Channel One Cup, which will be held in Saint Petersburg between the 14th and 17th of December.
The noon shot is a tradition of marking noon with a shot from an artillery gun; in Saint Petersburg it is fired from the wall of the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress. The right to perform it is granted to honourary citizens and guests of the city.
