Vladislav Tretiak participated in a meeting concerning the development of student ice hockey

President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) Vladislav Tretiak participated in a meeting with the Rector of the Far Eastern Federal University Boris Korobets, which was dedicated to the development of student ice hockey in the Far Eastern Federal District.



The event, timed to coincide with the start of the Student Hockey Asia Challenge, was also attended by the Minister of Physical Culture and Sport of the Primorsky Krai Zhan Kuznetsov, the managing director of the Student Hockey League Anton Khramtsov, the head of the Far Eastern branch of the RIHF Stanislav Stelmakh, the president of the Primorsky Krai Ice Hockey Federation Anatoly Firsov, the director of the winter sports development centre of the city of Qiqihar Chen Guanghua and chairman of the Harbin Culture and Sport Communications Company Mu Jian.



The participants discussed the integration of teams from the district’s universities into tournaments under the auspices of the Student Hockey League. In the 2023/2024 season, a separate zone for universities from the Far Eastern Federal District will be formed in the championship; the best teams will receive the right to take part in the All-Russian final of the Student Hockey League.

In addition, during the meeting, the leaders discussed the possibility of holding the Student Hockey Asia Challenge tournament on a regular basis.

- Taking into account just how popular ice hockey is in our country, it's vital to ensure that we have plenty of players of all ages. It's great that the Far Eastern Federal University provided the initiative for the creation of the Student Hockey Asia Challenge, we want this competition to be held on a yearly basis. In the future, we also want teams from Belarus and Kazakhstan to participate in it.
