Russia U17 - Loko-Yunior - 3:2
The Russian under 17 national team took on MHL-B outfit Loko-Yunior in a special Novogorsk friendly match.
Despite it being the teams' first summer friendly game, both competed at a high pace, and it was Russia's under 17's who took all the spoils. Three goals in the first two periods gave the players a large advantage, and despite two late Loko-Yunior replies, Russia held on for a 3:2 victory.
Evgeny Filinov, Russia U17 head coach:
- This was the first training camp of the year for the team, and we have had the opportunity to look at 28 players. We lost the third period 0:2, but they were strange goals. Everyone wants to perform well for the national team, and because of their extra motivation, too many penalties were taken. Nevertheless, we held on and managed to win. Everything is going to plan.
Anton Malyshev, Russia U17 defenseman:
- I have good emotions after winning, but we were nervous playing against a strong opponent in our first game. After the first ten minutes we began to get it together, and we gave 100%. It was a nervy end, but we managed to keep a hold of our advantage. All games are important for us.
