89 years since Genrikh Sidorenkov's birthday

Today on the 11th of August, legendary Soviet defenseman and one of the first USSR Olympic champions Genrikh Sidorenkov would have been celebrating his 89th birthday.

As a player, Genrikh won several titles at both club and country level, and as well as becoming an Olympic champion, he won the World Championship on two occasions. Russia fondly remembers his skill on the ice, and his achievements will never be forgotten.

1960 Olympic bronze medalist

World champion in 1954 and 1956 

Multi World Championship silver medalist

Won the European championship on a number of occasions as well as the silver medal
